Public Events:
HTA provides community education through exhibits, presentations, lectures, tours, products, and history programs. To preserve and restore historic houses under the supervision of the Meadows Foundation; including seven properties: the Syman Van Wickle House, the Blackwells Mills Canal House, the Hageman Farm, the Wyckoff-Garretson House, the Van Liew-Suydam House, Tulipwood and the Franklin Inn & Used Bookstore; main goals include historic preservation, restoration, presentation and promotion of the cultural, creative, historic performing arts and  activities
Public Events:
The Meadows Foundation sponsors numerous Colonial Re-enactments and authentic historic demonstrations; Pumpkin Patch and Easter Egg Jamboree (outdoor holiday events for children); Sinterklass Festival (Winter Festival in the Dutch tradition); a Candlelight Concert Series: Professional Performing Art Series; Fireside Chats featuring a variety of topics; Living History Series; art & craft exhibitions / shows; Canoe races and the Vergano Nature Conservancy. The Van Wickle House, Hageman Farm, and Tulipwood are available for rental purposes including weddings, special affairs and receptions. The park at the Van Wickle House location is open to the public. Open Houses are scheduled on the 2nd Sunday of each month, from 1 - 3 P.M. Guided tours of all historic sites are available during all events open to the public.

Education concerning local history, as well as preservation and restoration of historic structures in the Somerset Hills encompassing Bernards Township, Bernardsville, Peapack-Gladstone, Pluckemin, and Far Hills. Ongoing emphasis has been placed on restoring the 1809 Brick Academy in Basking Ridge, which is the historical society’s headquarters.
Membership Events: Picnics; Christmas Party; promotion of the beautification of Basking Ridge; investigated future of Knox House in Pluckemin; investigated lime kilns in Peapack, and created       a pocket park there; representation on township work committees (Kennedy Farmstead Task Force, Planning Board, Environmental Commission, traffic, pedestrian safety, beautification)

Christmas House Tour; Nearly-New Collectible show; Open Houses weekly (September – November, March – May); also open first and third Wednesdays; work with the “Merchants of Olde Basking Ridge”. Public Events:
The museum was closed on March 31, 2005 for renovations and expansion.  Projected date of re-opening is tentatively scheduled for early 2008.  However, the Library and Archives will remain open by appointment, Monday through Friday 9 A.M. - 5 P.M.
